SUMMARY:Port Republic\, Peach Grove\, and Neff Avenue Study Public Meeting at Stone Spring Elementary on March 6
DESCRIPTION:The Harrisonburg Rockingham Metropolitan Planning Organization (HRMPO) is seeking public feedback on conceptual improvements for the Port Republic Road – Peach Grove and Neff Avenue intersection and surrounding approaches. These proposed improvements seek to make travel safer for both vehicular users and multimodal bike\, pedestrian\, and transit users across the corridor. \nThe HRMPO will host a public meeting on March 6th from 4 to 6 p.m. at Stone Spring Elementary School\, where community members will learn about the project and have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on proposed improvement designs. \nThe new designs will attempt to calm traffic along the Port Republic segment from Devon Lane to Peach Grove/Neff Avenue\, which is one of the busiest intersections in the Harrisonburg-Rockingham region and remains the single highest crash intersection in the HRMPO region. The designs also incorporate ways to ensure safe biking\, walking\, and scooting use of the corridor\, many of whom are students at James Madison University (JMU). \nAttendees of the open house will have the opportunity to:\n• View educational displays about the improvement designs\n• Speak directly with HRMPO\, VDOT staff and study experts about the project\n• Express any thoughts and questions through a digital public survey that will be available before\, during and after the event \nAn online survey will be available at the meeting to collect public feedback and will also be available digitally from March 3rd through March 14th\, 2025.
