Harrisonburg Department of Public Transportation (HDPT) unveiled its updated bus design and 15 new vehicles on Monday, December 9, at their central garage facility. The ceremony marked HDPT’s first brand update since 2003.
The ceremony, held at HDPT’s central garage, showcased the 15 new standard-size buses and several smaller vehicles featuring a striking gray and blue color scheme with “HB Connect” and “HB Access” branding and helping replace units that had reached the end of their service life.
According to HDPT Director Gerald Gatobu, the rebranding will be implemented gradually over approximately five years as older vehicles are retired and replaced. The design process took one year to complete and aligned with planned fleet replacement schedules.
The new buses will support expanded evening service hours planned for December 16 through Saturday, January 18th, 2025 when all city routes will operate from 6:30am to 9:30pm Mondays through Saturdays!
