~ Additional service makes weekends in D.C. easy for riders ~
RICHMOND, Va. — Virginians who are looking to get out of town for the weekend have a great new option! The Virginia Breeze has added additional weekend service to its route, making it easy and affordable to explore our nation’s capital or beyond.
New northbound weekend service from Blacksburg, Va., to Washington, D.C., began Friday, Nov. 16, departing at 2 p.m. from Squires Student Center on the Virginia Tech campus. The southbound service from D.C. to Blacksburg began Sunday, Nov. 18, departing from Union Station at 5 p.m. The full schedule of stops, including the new weekend service schedule, can be found on the Virginia Breeze website at: catchthevabreeze.com.
The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) launched the Virginia Breeze in December, 2017 to allow all Virginians a new and easy travel option between Blacksburg and Union Station in Washington. The bus makes nine stops along I-81 and I-66, providing crucial connections for urban and rural Virginians alike. The new weekend service will allow riders to make a weekend trip to D.C. and get back home in time for Monday classes and work.

About the Virginia Breeze
The Virginia Breeze is the first intercity bus service sponsored by the Commonwealth of Virginia and launched in 2017 by the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation. Funded and operated in partnership with the Federal Transit Administration’s Section 5311(f) Intercity Bus Program and Dillon’s, a Coach USA company, the Virginia Breeze connects Blacksburg, Va., to Union Station in Washington, D.C., with two daily routes — one northbound and one southbound — serving nine stops in the New River Valley, Shenandoah Valley, and Northern Virginia.

- Staunton (Martin’s Grocery on Richmond Avenue)
- Harrisonburg (Godwin Transit Center at JMU)
- Front Royal (Crooked Run VDOT Park & Ride)
- Dulles Airport (Curb 2E)
- Arlington (Kiss & Ride lot at the West Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail Station)
The Virginia Breeze features a modern 56-passenger coach with free Wi-Fi, in-seat power outlets and other amenities, and is operated in partnership with Dillon’s, a Coach USA company. Virginia Breeze customers can also purchase an interline ticket for Megabus destinations beyond Union Station, such as Philadelphia or New York. This program marks the first time a state has partnered with Megabus to provide interline ticketing options in the US.
