HRMPO is in the process of developing the 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). Phase 2 of the LRTP process is focused on gathering feedback on a list of proposed transportation projects, known as the draft Universe of Projects.
Two public open house events are scheduled in August to provide community members with an overview of the LRTP process, and the chance to ask any questions. Laptops will be available to complete the draft Universe of Projects survey, and public input will be used to identify which projects will be included in the final Plan.
The two open house events will be held on:
- August 18th from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Lucy Simms Auditorium in Harrisonburg; and
- August 31st from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Turner Ashby High School in Bridgewater.
There is no formal presentation. Community members are invited to stop by any time between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. HRMPO staff will be present to answer questions about the LRTP and/or to provide technical assistance.
Phase 1 of the LRPT process focused on evaluating the existing transportation network, and included an online public survey with over 600 respondents providing input on regional transportation needs. The final draft of the document is anticipated to be complete in Spring 2023 and will be made available to the public.
