The Harrisonburg Rockingham Metropolitan Planning Organization (HRMPO) is inviting community members to learn more about an ongoing North Mason Street transportation study that is evaluating safety and streetscape improvements on North Mason Street between East Market Street and North Main Street. The study is informed by feedback and data from the 2025 North Mason Street Demonstration Project.
The HRMPO will host a public open house on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Lucy F. Simms Continuing Education Center (620 Simms Avenue, Harrisonburg), where community members will learn about the project and have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on proposed design options.
Community members are welcome to attend any time during the two-hour period. Attendees will be able to view design option diagrams, share input, and speak directly with staff from HRMPO, City of Harrisonburg, VDOT, and the study consultant.
Attendees of the open house will have the opportunity to:
- View diagrams showing the design options under consideration
- Speak directly with HRMPO, City of Harrisonburg, VDOT staff, and study experts
- Share their experiences, thoughts, and questions about the corridor
Display materials will be posted online prior to the open house. For additional information, visit TinyURL.com/northmasonstudy or www.hrvampo.org, or call the HRMPO at 540-885-5174.
